OUR BROTHERS OF BIHAR

Sight of a toddler trying to wake up a dead mother in the railway station of Bihar is a disturbing awakening on how devastating and deep the migrant crisis is. With a threatening reality and a broken future these migrants undertake the most painful barefoot journey braving the scorching heat, carrying their child in a hand and hope in their heart. Not all reach their hometown, but many breathe their last breath on the pavements uncared and unattended for. Even for those who make to their final destination exhaustion doesn’t end there, empty stomach, sleepless nights, traumatic past and daunting future makes them as living dead.

Brothers of Bihar” is an earnest attempt to help our brothers in distress to explore a way to embrace both the harshness of the current situation with a balance of healthy optimism about the future. Its flame to reignite the lost hope and reinstate the self-image of these ceaseless working-class families.

Why Bihar?

During first few phases of lockdown, team celebrating life did reach out and supported families in Tanjore and Nagai districts with two metric tons of monthly provisions. As migrant crisis got escalated, we did observe mass influx in states of UP, MP and Bihar. To execute program of this scale we need support from local machinery as well as a credible network of volunteers, we have this solid support structure in Bihar, hence we prioritized Bihar over other states
